Stopping Menstruation Periods | How to Stop Menstrual Cycles

Stopping Menstruation:

The menstrual cycle is a means for the body to compensate the absence of implantation and fertilization of a woman’s egg. The cycle of a woman would vary depending upon the age, hereditary factors, and other external factors such as stress and work. Others usually have the 28-day cycle, others follow the 32-day cycle, and still others would have to wait 42 days before getting their next period.

However, the most common is the 28-day cycle. By the 28th day, an average woman would start shedding the lining of the uterus if no implantation and fertilization of her egg occurred.

Stop Menstrual Periods:

Some women, especially athletes, may want to stop menstruation cycles or alter it to accommodate special sporting events or other affairs that having one’s period may prove to be discomforting.

There is no certain and effective method to literally stop menstrual period. But there are situations that you may be able to decrease the menstrual blood flow, postpone and prepone it, and make it even feel as if you aren’t having a menstrual period at all.

These are the following methods/things that can make this happen:

  • Anti-hemorrhagic medications can be prescribed to you by your physician if he finds that you are having bleeding irregularities.
  • Hormonal pills prescribed by obstetricians and gynecologists can also alter the bleeding rate of a woman during her menstruation. These may even allow you to postpone or prepone your periods as per your needs or preferences.
  • Depo-vera injectables can also limit the blood flow during menstrual period. Other variants may even give you months without having to go through any menstruations.
  • Other medications also have side effects that may alter or affect the menstrual cycle of a woman.

Some Contraindications:

  • Not having one’s regular menstrual period would likely result to heavy bleeding on the women’s next menstrual cycle. Blood clots would usually form in the uterus, and it would usually put the person at risk for reproductive complications and diseases.
  • Stopping one’s period would usually affect a woman’s ability to bear a child. The menstrual cycle is stimulated by the hormones estrogen and progesterone that causes the shedding of the lining of the uterus. Any means by which the secretion of these hormones is affected will most likely alter a woman’s chance of getting pregnant too.
  • Hormonal pills are usually contraindicated to individuals who have underlying diseases and conditions in the heart, liver, and kidneys.
