Vitamin A is an antioxidant vitamin which has a great role in vision and skin health besides strengthening the immune system. However, patients who are suffering from night blindness may require more amount of vitamin A for few weeks.

In corneal damage the daily dose of 6000mcg per kg body weight for 5 days have proved beneficial. In cases of xerophthalmia, a type of dry conjunctivitis due to lack of vitamin A in very young children, 60,000 mcg of retinol can be administered orally in a single dose with beneficial results

It also repairs the upper layer of skin and helps to heal the wound easily.

Vitamin A is beneficial in reducing hyper-pigmentation as it reduces clumping of pigments that give color to the skin. Vitamin A is also found beneficial in curing acne.
