Brown spots on stomach and abdomen can be frequently noted in individuals, they escape our observation for two reasons, one, in many instances brown spots do not cause any trouble to an individual and second, they remain covered under the clothes.

Brown Spots On Stomach

Brown spots in some cases are of significance as they primarily indicate some underlying disease condition such as blood dyscrasias which results into capillary bleeding below the skin and in the dermis after contused wound. Brown spots on stomach can be smooth or elevated.

Causes Of Brown Spots On Abdomen

  • The other common cause of brown spots on stomach is pityriasis versicolor, it is a fungus infection occurring due to perspiration, antibiotics and birth control pills.
There may be mild itching associated if the spot is fungus in origin.
  • Liver disease can also cause tiny brown spots on the stomach surface, they blanch on pressure.
  • Certain people have sun allergy, the ultraviolet rays can cause brown pigments on the exposed abdominal portion during sun bathing.
  • Moles and warts can also be detected many a times having brown discoloration.

Treatment For Dark Brown Spots

  • Treatment of brown spots may depend on underlying cause. In fact brown spots on stomach are not disease in itself, but they are signs of disease.
  • In case of pityriasis versicolor, applying apple cider vinegar will reduce the fungus infection effectively.
Dusting antifungal powder on the abdomen can also be of help.
  • If the spots are due to sun exposure, avoid sunlight and avoid sun bathing without applying sun screen lotion. Lime juice application can help to lighten the brown spots on abdomen.
  • You should always consult a medical practitioner if you have brown spots on stomach, to exclude diseases of greater concern.

I currently have huge dark brown and dark red spots on my lower back. They just showed up a few years ago when I started getting in the sun and they have not gone since then. Does anyone know what they may be due to and is there anything I can do?

I have a dark spot on my stomach, starting from between my breasts and going down. In the beginning (several months ago) it wasn’t as big but as time went by its gotten bigger. When I touch it it feels hairy, but looking at it just looks like a brown spot and I noticed that its spreading between my breasts now. If anyone know anything please help me. I am scared and going to set up an appointment with the doctor but I would still like your thoughts on what it could be.

I have dark brown spots of various sizes below my breast, where my bra covers the back and on my stomach. The spots are raised and feel rough to touch. My doctor said they are “barnacles” and didn’t seem concerned. They bother me and at times the waist band on my pants makes them sore and my bra rubs them. I’ve had on frozen off but it leaves a huge white spot. How can you get rid of this spots without freezing procedure?

Dark spots under breast can be due to many reasons. They can be due to too much exposure to sun, hormonal changes, wearing tight fitting bra, etc. If your brassier is the causative problem, try wearing lose fitting bra or wear other types of bra. Avoid too much exposure to sun. Homeopathic medicines are useful in such cases. Consult a good homeopath for the treatment.

      • Avoid using brassier for too long having underwire. The wire causes constant friction with the skin which frequently is the reason for darkening the skin under the breast.
      • Apply mixture of lime juice and turmeric powder daily on the affected area.
      • Apply milk on the tanned area. Milk is mild lightening agent as it contains lactic acid. It helps to eliminate dark patches.

I was about to sleep about 5days ago when I discovered a part of my lower right side stomach was tender and painful. After checking my stomach I found a slightly brown painful patch on my stomach. I applied some coco-butter cream on the spot for two days and the pain subsided. This evening I realized that the spot is reddish brown and lumpy under the skin when pressed. What could be happening?

Months the ago I started getting a few dark spots on my right side lower abdomen going up to my chest it wasn’t as much so I didn’t worry until every time I got out of the shower I noticed more and more were appearing. It got To the point where now I even look like a Dalmatian. I went to the doctor and he just looked at me told me to use head and shoulders as a body wash and they will wear off. Here I am three months later and honestly I see no difference in fact they have spread to my left side I am a bit worried and also summer is coming I would like to get rid of them at the earliest.

Brown spots on abdomen can develop due to several reasons. This can be a symptom of skin disease called pityriasis versicolor. It is a fungus skin infection. Most often it is caused due to perspiration. Sometimes there is mild itching. In rare cases this can develop due to bleeding from the capillary from blood dyscracias. Whatever may be the cause, you have to consult a good dermatologist. Unless the doctor examines the spots, it is difficult to tell the underlying pathology.
