I have similar problems for this whole week. Last night, before I jumped into the shower, I was dripping blood. I did not know what to do and i could not touch anywhere near my anus because I was in pain, especially when I lay on my butt or sit on my butt. I have lumps around my anus. I am a female. Is this normal? What could be causing the lumps and bleeding from my anus?

This could be a case of “Perianal Hematoma” or simply know as “piles” or “hemarrhoids” in laymen language. These lumps are formed just near the opening of the anus. This happens because a blood vessel may rupture when the bowels open stretching the skin on the border or the opening of the anus. This should normally go away with time. During this period, ensure that you maintain appropriate diet: lots of water, high fiber food, avoid spicy food, more green leafy vegetables. Avoid tight fitting trousers or jeans that will rub against the affected area. Give your self more rest than you normally do. If these symptoms still do not subside in a few days, you must see your physician.

I have found salt water very effective, I prefer to use sea water as I found that caused the hematoma to decrease and disappear as a result of swimming in the sea.
