Symptoms and signs of nettle sting are pale swelling which is usually small on the skin, with burning and severe itching which on and off comes and go. It can come at all together new area or is replaced by new ones at the same place. This area also called as urticaria and it may affect whole body and can last for several months.

Preventing Nettle Sting

  • The sting area should be carefully searched for a stinger as most of the time it remains inside.
    This should be pulled out. Do not try to remove it with needle or blade as I may go into deeper layer and add to complication.
  • Do not scratch the area. Although it provides some relief, it can lead to a secondary infection. Instead, quickly apply a natural remedy to reduce the itch.

Home Remedies for Nettle Sting Rash

  • The area where there is nettle sting rash should be applied with a preparation made from baking soda and little water to make it into paste form. This should be diluted with water of ammonia and applied over the area with compress.
  • Plantain is one of the best herbs for nettle sting rash and the first stinging nettle treatment by most herbalists. Rub the freshly picked herb on the area. Add 1/4th cup of dried leaves of plantain to a liter of boiled water and allow it to steep for 20-30mins and apply.
  • Sponge with very hot water. Also one can sponge with hot salt or alkaline water. Give a prolonged neutral temperature bath.
  • Pour 4-5 tablespoon of powdered calcium into a cup of water. Gently cover the itchy area with it. This will help neutralize and eliminate nettle sting itching.
  • Charcoal is useful in this condition.  Charcoal tablets which are available in the health stores should be crushed and to it add little water. This should be spread over the area of nettle rash. This helps remove poison and toxin from the area as it has tremendous absorptive power.
