Blotchy Skin After a Suntan | Home Remedies for Blotchy Skin

What Causes Blotchy Skin

Suntan is a protective response of normal skin to ultraviolet light. It is completely physiological and many a time it follows simple sunburn. Suntan often occurs in people who are pigmented and is a result of excessive secretion of melanin in melanocytes after direct exposure to sun rays. Suntan normally tends to disappear on its own within a variable period and does not need any active intervention but there are certain home remedies which are safe and effective in reducing suntan faster.

Natural Skin Care

  • Cover yourself completely before going outdoors especially in afternoon.
A full sleeve top, a cap or scarf can help.
  • Preferably use a sunscreen before leaving home. This will help protect your skin from scorching sun rays.
  • The best preventive measure would be to avoid stepping out in sun during the peak hours between 12 noon to 4 pm, when ultraviolet rays are most intense.
