Burnt Palate
- Everyone has done it at one time or another. You bite into a hot piece of pizza and the oil in the greasy cheese is so hot, it eats through the skin on the top of your mouth.
- Maybe a cup of scalding coffee does it, or something you mistakenly left in the oven too long.
- Burning the hard palate or the roof of the mouth hurts like the dickens.
- One great advantage with mouth issues is that it has a good blood supply that will help to heal tissue quickly.
How To Heal A Burnt Palate
- There are quite a few remedies for the healing of burnt palate.
- The very first thing you want to do to decrease the amount of blistering that may occur, is to suck on some shaved ice, eat an electrolyte popsicle, a dish of ice cream, or some frozen yogurt.
- Cold will minimize blistering, decrease inflammation, and help prevent you from feeling the pain as much. Keep sucking on ice every chance you get.
- Hold off eating any rough or coarse foods to prevent further tissue damage and tearing.
- Avoid hot and spicy foods and drinks for a while.
Burnt Palate Remedies
- Gargling with a good antiseptic mouthwash and alternating with plain salt water gargles will kill bacteria in the mouth and enhance the healing process.
- It takes a good 7-10 days for complete healing and the tissue to regenerate. The skin peeling will slough off eventually in that time period.
- Clove powder has been known to relieve pain for a burnt palate.
- Let food cool properly before inhaling it. It will taste better and save you a lot of discomfort and agony in the long run.
