How Often Should Tetanus Shots Be Given For Cuts By Rusty Things?

Question: I have minor cuts on my arm by a razor blade and I was very concerned and I wanted to know if it’s serious or if it can create any health problem.

I wanted to know if I need a tetanus shot or I can just apply anti-biotic or any other solution that can help. Can you please let me know what I have do when I get cuts like this? Is rusty iron dangerous? If I have taken tetanus injection sometimes back, how long its effect lasts?

Antibiotics prevent the spread and growth of bacterium in the wound/cut. Clostridium Tentani is the bacteria which causes Tetanus. A correct dose and composition of antibiotics effective on gram negative bacteria will prevent the spread of the bacteria, however there is no point taking chances, considering that a vaccination will be 100% effective.
