Swollen Glands And Fever Natural Remedies: How To Prevent It?

Swollen glands and fever is commonly seen in children with acute tonsillitis. It is also seen with viral fever. Main symptoms of tonsillitis are sore throat, fever, headache and swollen glands with difficulty in swallowing. Chronic tonsillitis is more common than acute one. In chronic tonsillitis there is tonsillar gland swelling and fever.

Cause of tonsillitis is due to excessive exposure to cold, cold drinks and ice-cream, along with viral infection. It is mostly due to decreased vitality from exposure to sudden chill. In some cases there is pus formation in the capsule of tonsils leading to a condition called as Quincy.

How To Prevent Swollen Glands And Fever?

  • Gargling with hot water with little bit of common salt added to it. Gargles should be done 3 to 4 times in day. This helps in reduction of congestion and swelling in the gland.
  • Fruits rich with vitamin C (like oranges) and vitamin E should be eaten as they help in increasing the vitality. Well-balanced diet is advised with grains, vegetables, fruits, nuts and seeds.
  • Sour and oily things are to be avoided. Exposure to cold and consumption of cold items is prohibited.

Natural Remedies For Swollen Glands In Throat

  • Milk along with pepper and turmeric is boiled and is taken in the night time for 3 to 5 days.
    This helps in the treatment and increasing the vitality with the help of turmeric and pepper.
  • Fenugreek seeds are very helpful in reducing swollen glands. Fenugreek seeds (two teaspoon) are boiled on simmer and allowed to cold down. This should be used for gargle on the same day.
  • Lime is also a useful home remedy. A fresh lime squeezed in a glass of warm water. To this 1/4 teaspoon of common salt and 4 teaspoon of honey is added. This preparation is slowly consumed.
  • Vegetable juice containing carrot, cucumber, mint and beet is very useful as it helps in improving the immunity and thus avoiding recurrent attacks of viral infections.
