Migrating pain or moving pain in the body is not uncommon. Migratory pain disrupts regular activities and makes the person miserable especially when it is chronic pain. Moving pain usually affects one part of the body at one time and shifts to another part at other time. This pain can be in the muscles or joints. The characteristics of pain can vary. It can be sharp, shooting, stabbing, burning or throbbing pain. Sometimes it can be like muscle soreness that is present in flu. Moving pain is common in people suffering from several forms of arthritis, an inflammatory condition of joints. The second most common cause is fibromyalgia. Symptomatic relief is obtained by pain killers and anti-inflammatory medicines. Alternate medicines such as homeopathy, acupressure and acupuncture are also beneficial to alleviate the symptoms.
Moving Pain In Body Causes:
It is very difficult to predict in which part of the body the pain will begin. Migratory pain is common in two conditions; arthritis and fibromyalgia. Arthritis is classified into several different forms. However, all forms have two common characteristics, joint pain and swelling of the joints. When the pain and swelling moves from one part to another the term used is migratory arthritis. It can occur in rheumatoid arthritis, gout, and lupus. The pain and swelling may develop in any one or two joints, usually at asymmetrical locations. The inflammation and pain recedes after some time only to recur again after few or weeks in some another joint or joints. For example if the pain and swelling of rheumatoid arthritis was in right knee joint and left elbow joint, in another episode the flare up can occur in left wrist joint and left ankle joint or the toes. Migratory arthritis can also develop as a result of bacterial infection in the joint.
Another important cause is fibromyalgia. The exact cause of fibromyalgia is not clear but it is believed to develop due to genetic trait, emotional and physical injury or an infection. Fibromyalgia is characterized by severe fatigue, moving pain of different intensity in different parts of body from time to time, disturbed sleep. According to one theory the moving pain in fibromyalgia is because of repeated stimulation of the nerve that makes the brain to perceive something abnormal. This abnormal change causes increase in chemicals that gives brain the signal of pain. When this memory inside the brain gets reactivated the pain signals are amplified. This can lead to reduction in feel good hormone serotonin and disturbance in sleep.
- Moving pain is quiet frustrating for the patient because it usually occurs from some chronic ailment. This means the pain waxes and wanes from time to time.
