Obviously, the remedy here is to find some treatment for the colds and the pain will go away on its own. On the other hand, some pain killers may help, although taking them should be under proper medical supervision upon the prescription of a doctor.

There are also available ear drops in most drugstores, which are prescribed by doctors for unclogging the ear canal to relieve it of pressure.

Another common method is to apply hot and cold compress alternatively on the affected ear. However, one common and simple remedy that is tested by time is to sleep on your side with the affected ear upwards.

The following are other means to relieve ear pressure and to take away ear pain:

  • Onions: You will need to chop fresh onions and warm it up to body temperature. After that, wrap the onion in cotton, wool, or silk and then leave it on the affected ear as a form of hot compress. This process may be repeated as often as one can do. However, only fresh onions must be used with each repetition.
  • Garlic oil: This process is easier than using fresh onions. All you need to do is to get a piece of cotton and soak it in garlic oil and then place the cotton on the opening of the ear as if to serve as a plug.
