Coxsackie virus is from the genus enterovirus, the name coxsackie is given to the virus because it was first isolated from human feces, in a new York town named coxsackie.
The virus is not killed in the stomach by stomach acids, and can live on surface for several hours before causing any symptoms. It takes 2 to 3 days for symptom manifestations after the virus has entered our body.
