Palmar Hyperhidrosis: Natural Remedies To Prevent Sweaty Palms

Sweaty palms, medically termed as palmar hyperhidrosis, are the excessive sweating of the hands more than the normal perspiration. This condition causes the sufferer to have problems doing daily activities.

Palmar hyperhidrosis can be classified according to its cause: congenital (primary), that means a family member has it or acquired (secondary), from a disease, hormonal imbalance, or mercury poisoning.

Home Remedies To Treat & Prevent Palmar Hyperhidrosis

Shaking hands is one way of saying ‘how are you’ to a new acquaintance. Before this becomes a social fad, victims of this condition will want to know how to avoid palms from sweating too much.

Sweaty palm cures are simple, easy, and effective:

  • Drink more fluids: The amount of sweat produced is related to your body temperature. Sweat releases heat so make sure to hydrate yourself and stay cool.
  • Live a stress-free life: Stress is one of the causes of increased sweat production.
  • Clap talcum powder or cornstarch between your palms. You may also use medicated powders that are designed to prevent palms from being sweaty.
  • Apply antiperspirant specifically for the arms and feet. Use aluminum-salt-based and unscented ones.
  • Aluminum chloride paint can also be applied to the affected area.
  • Consult your doctor because one of the causes of sweaty palm is an underlying disease.
  • Always keep a towel or handkerchief with you. You will need to wipe your hands or feet frequently. If possible use alcohol-based wipes because the alcohol temporarily clogs sweat pores.
  • Avoid taking foods that are high in iodine such as broccoli, asparagus, and white onion.
  • Boil 5 teabags in a quart of water. Let it cool and soak your palms or feet for thirty minutes. Tannic acid has an astringent property that acts as antiperspirant. This procedure is dermatological recommendation.
  • Drink sage tea and take zinc supplements to reduce wetting palms and body odor.
