Armpit Odor Treatment | Stinky Underarm Smell Causes, Prevention

Question:

Can you recommend me the effective cure for smelly armpit?

Answer:

Underarm Odor Cure

Odor from the armpits in adults is the most common phenomenon. It is present in all sexes, race and people from all strata of life.

The intensity of the arm pit odor varies from person to person. Some may smell a lot while others smell negligible.

Armpit odor usually begins in puberty as the sweat glands develop in this period in the arm pits. The sweat glands help the armpit to moisten and protect the skin from friction.

Certain bacteria’s are responsible to trigger the odor as they release chemical.

Some of the home remedies effective in treating smelly armpits are:

  • Lime Juice: Apply lime juice to the underarms; it helps to remove the bad odor. The other advantage of lime juice is it exfoliates the skin thereby removing the dead cells on the upper layer of the skin and making way for new skin cells
  • Apply vinegar to the armpits after taking bath; it will act on the bacteria’s in the arm pits neutralizing the bad odor
  • You can apply baking soda to the armpits to prevent it from stinky smell
  • Shave regularly for preventing the armpits from stinking.
Hair may cause moist environment for the bacteria to grow and produce bad odor

Deodorant and antiperspirant are not same. Deodorant’s main function is to mask bad odor while antiperspirant blocks sweat gland temporarily and reduces sweating. Sweat in true sense does not produce bad odor. Foul odor is generated when the bacteria present on skin react with the protein and fat present in sweat. If you are battling with bad odor in armpit, the best is to use deodorant. If you are combating with too much of sweat then antiperspirant is the choice. A combination can also be used for the desired result. This consists of a deodorant with clinical strength antiperspirant.
