Loose Motion After Eating: Causes, Diet And Home Remedies

Question: I am 5’9″, 49 years of age, suffer from loose motion, on & on, please advice.

Answer: More information about your condition is required. Since how long do you have this problem? Are loose motions accompanied with other symptoms like abdominal pain, rectal itching or excessive bloating? Do you have any other underlying problem like diabetes, hypertension? Do you get loose motions immediately after meals?

It appears that recurrent loose motions can be attributed to either an irritable bowel disorder (if it is persistent for a long period of time) or to a secondary infection in the stomach (if it is associated with cramps and abdominal pain).

Diet And Home Remedies For Loose Motion After Eating

  1. Increase the intake of fruits, cereals, pulses and oat. These food products are high in dietary fiber which will aid in reducing the frequency of loose motions by formation of bulk.
  2. Ensure that you remain hydrated. Drink more than three liters of water to ensure that you compensate for fluid loss that may occur as a result of the diarrhea.
  3. Avoid sugary foods, saturated carbohydrates, oils, butter and cheese. These food products can aggravate your condition.
  4. Carrots are highly beneficial in the management of loose motions.
  5. Get a simple stool routine done to evaluate the local pathology that is causing the diarrhea.
If the problem is persistent, please visit your physician at the earliest.

I advise you to check your stool in a laboratory. One of the causes may be intestinal worms. Probably presence of Giardia lamblia or Entameba histolytica is responsible for such condition. However, it is not the reason always to be considered. It can be due to digestive disturbance or it can be just a habit which you have recently developed. Meanwhile, try to eat more of fiber foods, as it will aid in forming bulky stool. Eat apple, carrots and salads. Drink buttermilk regularly after meals as it aids in digestion. Let me know the findings of your stool report once you have got it done.

I usually have 3 to 4 times bowel movement in a day, right after my meal. The stool is lose and semisolid. I have stomach ache along with it. Once I pass stools the pain goes away. I take ample of fiber containing food but I am still facing this problem. Please suggest me how to overcome and the actual problem I am facing.

Check a sample of your stool in good laboratory. If there is any ameba present you may require a specific treatment. Once you get an urge do not try to withhold the bowel movement. Sometimes the intestinal contractions are strong and they can be painful when you hold it for long time. This may be responsible for pain before passing stools. It can be a more serious problem such as inflammatory bowel disease, known as ulcerative colitis. It may be associated with joint pain, blood and mucus in stool etc. Consult your doctor for evaluating your condition. Eat curd and yogurt in liberal quantity. Eat bananas. Pomegranate is also beneficial in such complaints.
