Abdominal Pain When Urinating

Urination is a normal process of excreting waste and excess body fluids, and the activity usually doesn’t involve pain. However, if you feel pain when urinating, it could be a sign of underlying infection or other conditions such as:

  • Holding urine for a long time after your bladder has signaled the need to release the urine
  • Sexually transmitted infections
  • Urinary tract infection that is caused by rapid multiplication of bacteria in the bladder and kidneys
  • Vaginal infection
  • Serious health conditions such as kidney stones, bladder tumors, and narrowing of the urethra
  • Toxic medication

Home Remedies for Difficulties in Urinating

If you are experiencing pain while peeing, it is important for you to visit the doctor for proper diagnosis.

However, there are home remedies you can apply to treat your condition, which include the following:

  • Eliminate the bacteria in your urinary tract by drinking more water than you should to promote urination and flushing out of bacteria. Drink 16 ounce of water then follow it up with 4 ounce water mixed with a teaspoon of baking soda then drink a glass of water every hour for the next 8 hours.
  • Practice proper wiping of your bottom after defecation. Wipe from up to bottom to prevent bacterial transfer from your anus to the urethra.
  • Practice clean and safe sex. Wash your vagina after having sex. Or if you are already feeling pain while urinating, wash your private area with water mixed with baking soda to eliminate pain.
