Stop Intestinal Belching

Belching, also known as burping, is the act of expelling gas from the stomach out through the mouth. The accumulation of air is the usual cause of intestinal belching. The distension of the stomach causes discomfort, and the belching drives out the air and relieves the discomfort. It might be quite a little bothersome at first but to some individuals this becomes a habit most especially during after meals.

Causes of Excess Air in Stomach

  • Bring a cup of water to a boil, and then mix in a teaspoon full of salt. Mix these and drink. There is no known explanation for this but the salt and the warmth of the water usually helps expel and alleviates the discomfort you might be experiencing.
  • Place a hot compress in your abdominal area.
  • Try to palpate your abdomen as you lie down, feet flexed. You can sometimes palpate the air running around your abdominal area.
  • In order to avoid the embarrassment of having to belch in front of the public, going to the bathroom early in the morning would usually lessen the risk of this occurring to you.

Prevent Intestinal Belching

There are a few measures you can do to prevent intestinal belching.

  • Avoid food that would usually facilitate and trigger the accumulation of gas and air in your system. These types of foods such as the root crops are the most common source of such instances to likely happen.
  • Eat and drink slowly. Take your time when eating and drinking to swallow less air.
  • Avoid eating bubblegum and any carbonated drinks. These usually would result to the buildup of air.
