Arthritis is a condition characterized by inflammation of the joints, pain and swelling associated with joint stiffness and degeneration. There are several different types of arthritis including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondilytis.

According to Ayurveda, the traditional Indian system of medicine, castor oil is considered to be most effective in the management of any form of Arthritis.

Using Castor Oil For Arthritis Pain Relief

Arthritis is an autoimmune disorder. Castor oil taken orally or applied locally has profound benefits on improving the pain and muscle stiffness of the joints.

Here are a few tips on how to use castor oil for arthritis,

  • Heat castor oil slightly and apply it to the affected area. Apply the oil and massage the skin gently in an up and down strokes. This will enhance the penetration of the oil into the skin. After the massaging, keep the area open or wrap it with a cotton cloth to keep the region moist
  • Tropical application is recommended at night for arthritis pain and inflammation.
  • For oral congestion, mix two table spoons of Castor Oil mixed with warm water, early in the morning is considered helpful.
    Alternatively one can mix castor oil along with tea or fruit juice to overcome the taste of the oil.
