What is Vaginitis: Types, Causes of Vaginitis Infections
What is Vaginitis?
Whenever the vagina is inflammed or infected with some bacteria or fungus, you will experience irritation and itching around your vagina. You may also experience abnormal and smelly discharge. This condition is called vaginitis.
What are the symptoms of Vaginitis?
Some of the most common symptoms of Vaginitis infection include:
- Irritation and itchy sensation around the vaginal area
- Pale colored smelly vaginal discharge.
- Burning sensation while urinating.
What are the different types of Vaginitis?
- Yeast Infection can cause vaginitis. This is casued due to a fungus known as Candida. When the candida fungs grows in excess inside the vagina, it may cause a white discharge. Yeast infection will make the vagina itchy and irritable.
- The other type of vaginitis is caused due to bacterial infection and is also known a bacterial vaginosis.
- Trichomoniasis is a type of vaginitis that is caused typically by a single-cell parasite. This infection is generally sexually transmitted.
- A lesser type of vaginitis is the non-infectious vagnitis. This is casued due to external agenst like soap, sprays, fabric detergent and the likes. Non-infectious vaginitis may also cause vaginal ryness, ithcing and soreness.
Vaginitis treatment include application of yeast cream, antibiotics depending upon the type and severity of the vagnitis infection.
