  • Psychological stress. Studies show that emotional conditions weaken the immune system and increase a woman’s risk to yeast infections. Yeast infection is one of the most common cause of vulvar itching.
  • Sexually transmitted infections such as Chlamydia, gonorrhea, genital herpes, vaginitis, genital warts, and trichomonas vaginalis.
  • Skin conditions such as psoriasis and pinworm.

The vulvar itching, burning, and irritation can be treated by looking at the causes of genital itching.

If you think the main cause of the itching is sexually transmitted infection, you should immediately seek the professional advice of a gynecologist. For mere irritation, proper vaginal hygiene will do. You can also apply some home remedies to eliminate vulvar itching.

  • Apply a mixture of apple cider vinegar with garlic juice on the affected area as frequently needed.
  • Soak a tampon on a curd or yoghurt and insert to the private area at least twice a day.
  • Drink two glasses of buttermilk a day.
