Tender Breasts, Missed Period 3 Weeks, Stomach Pains | What Can Cause?

Question: I have a series of symptoms.

  • First you must realize that I had a UTI 3 weeks ago and was given antibiotics for it.
  • Now my symptoms include tender breasts, missed period (3 weeks late or more), stomach pains (in the lower abdomen on my left side mainly but will be on both sides occasionally), headaches, nausea throughout the day, urinating more frequently, and that is all.
  • Can you tell me what is wrong with me??? What could be the possible causes for my symptoms

Answer:

  • It would be advisable to get a pregnancy test done. Some of the symptoms that you have mentioned, (missed period, nausea, tender / inflamed breasts, abdominal discomfort, increased frequency of urination, and even UTI (or urinary tract infection) point towards pregnancy. Get a UPT (urine pregnancy test) kit from a medical store and have the test done at home.
It would be crucial to rule out pregnancy.
  • Another possible diagnosis for the condition, could be inflammatory disorder of the pelvis and female genital tract, (PID) pelvic inflammatory disease. This medical condition also presents with the symptoms that you have mentioned. I would recommend getting a pelvic Sonography (USG) done, to come to the exact diagnosis. What is your menstrual history? Is it regular? Any pain during menses? White discharge?
  • Kidney stones could be another probable cause of the symptoms. An X-ray or USG would be your answer to the precise diagnosis. Once the diagnosis is made, treatment can be started off immediately. Also, has the urinary infection gone? Are you still taking medications? Is there itching and burning around the urethra when you urinate?

I could help you better, once the correct diagnosis is made.
