Will my menses return? I missed my period for 2 months going into 3 months. I am 40 years old. What can I take or do for it to come back because I want a child when I get married at 41 years old next year

Irregular menses can occur in many conditions. You have not given your age. Assuming you are of the fertile age group, you have to check your blood levels for anemia because it is one of the causes for irregular menses.

There may be hormonal imbalance also. For that you can undergo thyroid hormone level test. Meanwhile you can wait for some time, say one week or so without any medication. Some times body itself regulates its mechanism.

Further, if more investigation is necessary, sonography of abdomen and pelvis may be done to rule out polycystic disease of the ovary. Even increased weight can give rise to irregular menses.

Mental stress, cigarette smoking can also lead short follicular phase, other causes are, breast feeding, fibroids cysts etc.

It is too early to conclude that you are in early menopausal phase .
Menopause is said when there is irregular menses or no menses for 1 year.
You should not be worried more if you miss a single menstrual cycle. There can be many causes for amenorrhea.
Hypothyroidism can give rise to irregular menstrual cycles, but since your TSH values are normal and you are taking thyroid pills, there are less chances of this being the cause.
Anemia is also known to produce amenorhea. Check your hemoglobin and correct it by taking suitable medicine .
Mental stress , cigarette smoking can also cause amenorrhea.

My period was irregular; my last period was in last Oct2009. And every month I had only spotting for one day. Why is it like that? I encountered this always since before I had irregular menstrual period. What is the cause? Is there anyone who can give me an explanation about this?

    Missed or irregular periods have variety of causes, among them pregnancy should be the first cause to be considered. The others being;
    • Stress, weight gain, or weight loss.
    • Person taking birth control pills.
    • Menopausal syndrome.
    • Hormonal imbalance
    • Menarche, the beginning of menstruation for the first time may be irregular.
    • Poly cystic ovarian disease.
You have to rule out the causes one by one with the help of blood test or any other scientific investigation necessary.
Pregnancy can be checked by a simple urine pregnancy test.
Cope up stress, check your weight by proper diet intake.

Absence of menses or irregular menstruation if of short duration need not be the cause of worry. It may be due to some emotional disturbance, anxiety, or grief of recent origin.
    It will cure of itself.
But if the menses is regularly irregular, you have to search for the cause.
The following may be few causes leading to amenorrhea.
    • Severe illness like jaundice, typhoid, anemia.
    • Pregnancy has to be ruled out. A simple urine pregnancy test will confirm it.
    • Discontinuing of contraceptive pill after taking for a along time.
    • Poly cystic ovarian disease.
    • Hypothyroidism
    • Excessive athletic exercise.
    • Obesity
    • Malnourishment.

I have been in a relationship and done that thing without protection, after 13th day of my menses. I have missed my periods. I have gone through the urine test twice and it is negative both the times. Can you please tell me why my periods are getting delayed?

Assuming that you have regular menses, pregnancy cannot be ruled out, as the day you had an intercourse is the most fertile period of the menstrual cycle. You can repeat the urine pregnancy test once again with another brand available in the store.
Do blood test for Beta HCG.
If that is also negative, take a gynecologist opinion.

Do not worry if there is some irregularity in your cycle, some times hormonal changes can lead to irregular periods.
As you are certain of not having pregnancy, I presume that there was no sexual contact or any relation last 2 to 3 months.
I will advice you to wait for a while, before taking any medication.

I am 18 years old and I last had my period on February 27. Today, I still haven’t got my period. There is no sexual intercourse, or should I say penetration. What’s the probable cause?

Do you have a regular menstrual cycle since menarche?
When did your first menstruation start?
There are many causes for delayed menses.
    • Pregnancy, a urine pregnancy test will show the result if it is positive or negative.
    • In pubertal age, frequently there is hormonal imbalance resulting in delayed menses.
    • Investigate for anemia.
    • Contraceptive pills, also cause delayed menses.
    • If your weight is in excess, there are chances of irregular periods.
    • Acute disease like typhoid or jaundice, may delay menses.
The cause of this delay is of a lesser concern because you are sure of no sexual contact; secondly the delay is of 4 days only, I would suggest to wait for some few days, you will resume your menses.

My problem is related to mensuration. I had a first spell of amenorrhea last year in September. I went to a gynecologist in November 2009. She gave me some medicine, after taking that medicine, mensuration cycle was stated again but now after 5 months it has stopped again. My blood test and ultra sound was clear. I do not know where the problem is. I wanted to ask you that should I take that medicine again. It’s name is gynacearid.

In young age, you may be having hormonal changes occurring in your body. Irregular and decreased menses may be due to such changes. Wait for some time, such changes correct’s on its own.

I want to do exercise on daily basis to reduce belly fats but I can’t. I get pain in my thighs for many days when I do exercise once. Thus I avoid exercise.

To reduce your weight, you have to do regular exercise, and eat proper food.
    1. Remain active throughout the day, increase your non exercise activity thermogenesis that accounts for your daily activity, like walking to market places, climbing stairs, clean the house, and cook. This type of activities can help to burn unto 1000 to 1500 calories per day.
    2. Ball workouts: a Swiss ball assist in strengthening the stomach muscles, it will help you to have a correct posture and a fabulous flat stomach.
    3. Stay happy, if under stress reduce it by meditation as stress increases the level of cortisol hormone, and high level of cortisol hormone can lead to abdominal weight gain.
    4. Eat small meals more frequently. It helps to reduce hunger pangs.
    5. Quit sugar or reduce sugar intake. Do not consume processed food as it contains plenty of sugar in the form of fructose.
    6. Practice yoga.
The pain in your thighs after exercise will be there for few days due to the stretching of the muscles, but it will gradually become less after some time. So keep on doing light exercise at least 5 days in a week.

I am 18 yr old and not in physical relation with any one. I got my period on 14 march 2010 and today is 1 may 2010. I have not got my periods yet. I exercise regularly (not over-exercise though). This happens frequently. After every 4-5 months I get my periods after two months or so.
I also visited a doctor but she said it was due to stress but now I do not feel any stress and am enjoying my life.
Sometimes during periods, I have pain in my lower abdomen. Sometimes there is a white fluid discharge. What is that?
I am conscious about my diet also and take milk and iron daily.

I am 28 year old and I am married for 3 years now. I had a problem two years ago. I had a miscarriage and the doctor suggested me to plan for pregnancy after two years. My last period was in the first week of March 2010. After this I am trying to conceive. I haven’t got my period since the. I thought I am pregnant and I ran tests during the first week of April 2010 and later on 27th of April 2010. But both tests were negative. What could be possible reason? For last two months before march 2010 my husband was using a Condom for intercourse.

I am 34 years old and undergoing treatment for my fibroid. I have not had menstruation for this month and I am sexually active. Can I be pregnant. I am taking several herbal supplements to shrink the fibroid. Is this fibroid cause for the delay of menstruation or is it the hormonal imbalances.
