There are guidelines to follow when consuming a low calorie diet. It is important to eat 4 to 6 small meals a day. Packing foods the night before help to ensure one does not break their diet. There should always be fresh and low calorie foods in one’s cabinet. Keeping it simple is the best way to gain success with the low calorie diet.
As is normal when anyone cuts calories from a normal daily amount, there are many side effects that can be suffered. These include fatigue, nausea, diarrhea, constipation, and headaches. This can also be extended to gallstones if weight is lost too rapidly. These symptoms should be monitored and treated appropriately. One’s low calorie diet may have to be adjusted if necessary.

When some refer to a low calorie diet, they often mean a very low calorie diet or VLCD. A very low calorie diet consists of the consumption of about 800 calories in a day. This should only be done under the supervision of a physician. A very low calorie diet can be very dangerous and is most often done in short durations such as 3 months or six months. Most of the time people who undergo a very low calorie diet are extremely overweight and their health and life is in danger, thus prompting the very low calorie diet.
