Skin Injury Treatments:

Skin injury can be due to various reason e.g. cuts, scrapes and tearing of skin due to collisions and falls.

Home Remedies for Skin Injury:

  • In case of small wound the bleeding usually stops on its own. If there is little bleeding let it be as it helps clean the wound. In case the wound constantly bleed then the bleeding should be stopped first. After stopping the bleeding one should clean the wound with anti-septic solution such as hydrogen peroxide or with water and soap. If boiled and cooled water is taken for cleansing then there might be less chances of infection.
  • Bleeding of the wound usually stop by application of pressure over the wound. Constant pressure should be applied for 5-10mins. If the bleeder is a small artery it usually stops bleeding. In case of large arteries it is better to go to hospital as heavy blood loss can be dangerous.
  • While applying pressure the bandage you are holding gets soaked up in blood do not change it. Put a new bandage over it and elevate the part above heart level. Lying position is the best as it causes uniform spread of pressure.
  • Goldenseal root powder helps stop bleeding and promote healing.
    Wounds may be bathed with several herbal washes or poultices (including aloe vera, comfrey, and plantain or tea tree oil).
  • Prevented by application of oil of tea tree. Application should be continued at least 3-4 times in a day. Aloe vera fresh or poultice prepared from comfrey helps in early healing of the wound.
  • If you have skin bruises one can prepare a poultice with blackstrap molasses. Dip wet brown paper in it and place it on the bruises. Bromelain which is an active principle in pineapple helps accelerate healing of bruise. One can purchase it from health-food store.
