One of the causes of dry skin is hot climatic condition, due to excessive heat there is dehydration of the skin which leads to dryness of the skin, and wrinkling or peeling of the skin.
The other causes can be vitamin deficiency, cosmetics, and strong soaps.
Hard water contains calcium and magnesium in excess quantity. One of the primary disadvantage of hard water is it requires more soap, detergent and shampoo to whatever you clean with water. Due to this quality people tend to scrub their body more rigorously while taking a bath.
In comparison soft water, with your favorite soap, creates gentle suds that help your skin and complexion look fresh and healthy.
You can install a water softener in your house.
In such situations it is imperative to nourish the dry skin. Some of the ways to do this are:
    - Drink plenty of water to keep your skin well hydrated.
    - Install a water softener if there is hard water.
    - Moisturize your skin after washing.
    - Warm milk is a natural moisturizer available easily in every house.
    - Almond oil will cure roughened skin.
    - Mashed bananas mixed with vegetable oil can be used as a facial mask.
    - When you are out in sun, use a sun screen lotion.
    - Avoid caffeinated beverages; caffeine is a diuretic, which dehydrates your skin.
