What is Rhinoplasty?

Incisions are made, cartilages removed or added depending on the type of nose job. Once the incisions are stitched up you may want to rest for a few hours. In any case, it will be a good idea to have someone drive you home.

There may be swelling on the nose for a few days, but that should subside soon.

Follow-up visits to your plastic surgeon is a must to check the results of the job, any other complications, infections etc that may sometimes result. There is also a risk of scarring  sometimes, but can be cured with proper treatment after the rhinoplasty.

Recovery from Rhinoplasty

Recovery may take a few months – sometimes a whole year. Rhinoplasty patients sometimes wait for a year till the swelling and the soreness on the nose completely subsides. Most nose surgeries are permanent. But in some cases, cartilages may grow again.

It has also been seen that very often 1 out of every four rhinoplasty requires revision. Hence, the choice of surgeon is of utmost importance in this type of surgical procedure.
Moreover, rhinoplasty is not recommended for each and everyone. It is advised that teenagers who have yet not developed physically should avoid undergoing this surgery. Since, the first chance of coming out with a successful operation is very rare, patients should really be decisive about going under this type of operation and take necessary preparations to combat its side effects, if there is any.
