Facial Red Blotches Causes:
A red blotch which usually has many causes includes reactions to sun, chemicals, wind, alcohol, insect bites, friction and detergents. It can be due to some dietary products also (peanuts, chocolates, wheat, dairy products, meat or eggs). Wrong lifestyles and dietary habits are nowadays the main source for facial red blotches.
This complaint is usually seen in those with delicate skin. Women who have white complexion and are aged between 30 to 50 years are most likely to have this condition. In men it is quite worse. Their skin becomes rough with enlargement of nasal membrane.
Middle aged and older people are most likely to have red blotches.
Preventing Facial Red Blotches:
- Trigger factor for this condition are too much stress, direct sunrays exposure, excessive change of weather either cold or heat, eating sugary or spicy food and alcohol. Avoid trans-fatty acids (margarine, shortening, hydrogenated vegetable oils). Eating of junk food too much, along with poor nutritious diet can lead to vitamin B complex deficiency. Redness of face is also common feature in chronic alcoholic as they lack in vitamin B complex due to poor food intake.
- As a cleansing practice one should take a fast for a day or two. Drink lots of water and eat nutritious diet.
- Avoid strenuous exercise which produces sweating. Avoid exposure to heat from the sun, an open fireplace, oven door or facial steaming. They can burst the dilated capillaries on the face.
- Avoid icy chilling, after shave lotions, skin toners, harsh soaps or hard scrubbing. Hot liquid should be avoided.
- Avoid commercial skin creams and greasy cosmetics. Wash your pillow case regularly in chemical free detergents.
Home Remedies for Facial Red Blotches:
- Red ochre is a useful home remedy in this condition. Juice is extracted from it and one teaspoon of it is mixed with honey and taken internally three times a day. This helps in removing facial blotches.
- Turmeric is a popular home remedy for treating red blotches. Turmeric powder is taken in quantity of ½ teaspoon and mixed in warm water. This is taken two times a day till complaints subsides.
- For external application one can paste with common salt and mustard oil. This is to be applied over the blotches two times in a day.
