How to Treat Shingles in Eyes and Scalp?
Shingles is the common name that is used to refer to herpes zoster. Shingles is a viral disease that is manifested by painful skin rashes that accompany the appearance of blisters on one side of the body. When the blisters appear, they commonly form a row that is similar to the shingles in roofing materials. This is how the condition got the name shingles.
Causes of Shingles:
The virus that causes shingles is the same virus that causes chicken pox.
Of special concern to everyone is the appearance of shingles in the area surrounding the eyes.
Treatments for Shingles:
Shingles are blisters or lumps that commonly appear in the head, scalp, and neck areas. They are very painful and it affects the patient severely. When the affected part is moved or when it is rubbed to another surface, the result is an intense pain that reverberates in the body of the affected person. As such, treatment for it becomes very important, especially in eliminating or reducing pain.
Here are some of the remedies for shingles:
- When shingles appear around the eyes and in the scalp, one cannot easily apply topical medications such as ointment because there is the risk of irritation. As such, the best remedy for such a situation is to apply aloe vera on the affected part. Just peel the leaf of the aloe plant and apply the gel-like material over the infection.
- One may also apply a few drops from green or black tea at least every two hours.
- Apply a chunk of ice over the affected part. This will help reduce the inflammation as well as diminish the pain associated with the infection.
