Heat Rash Causes and Treatments:
Heat rash occurs when an individual is exposed to the warmth and heat of the sun for long periods of time. It is fairly common during the peak season of summer where the temperature can drastically rise. It is the body’s compensatory mechanism to release heat by having raised papules all over your skin.
Symptoms of Heat Rash:
- Heat rash occurs because of the extreme heat in the core body temperature.Areas usually afflicted with heat rash are the armpits, neck area, groin area, and back area. These are also the areas where people sweat a lot.
- Heat rashes are always common in sweaty spots. If the warmth of the body temperature cannot release the fluids and heat, the skin will have to adjust and have this prickly rashes growing.
Home Remedies for Heat Rash:
Heat rash is usually common among children but it also occurs in adults, especially those who are obese.
- Take a bath religiously. When there is an episode of heat rash, you may take a bath early in the morning and one in the afternoon. If you still do wish to make your body feel a lot better, 2 to 3 times of bathing a day will do.
- Apply calamine lotion to the affected body.Heat rash can be very itchy and can be very irritating especially when an individual starts to sweat. Calamine helps relieve and soothe the affected area.
- Using cornstarch powder. The properties of cornstarch can help soothe the discomfort and it has an antiseptic component that helps decrease the likelihood of an infection.
- Medications may be taken such as antihistamine drugs, or you may just simply have to consult your doctor for the best treatment that would work for you.
Prevent Heat Rash:
Once you have treated your heat rashes, there are some things you can do to prevent them from coming back or getting them in the first place. The following precautionary measures can help keep you from experiencing the prickly heat rashes.
- Observe proper hygiene at all times.
- Take a bath religiously.
- When you tend to sweat, change clothes and allow the body to dry thoroughly.
- Avoid using dirty clothes.
- Avoid scratching the area to prevent the risk of infection and breaking the skin.
