How To Get Rid Of Corns: Home Remedies For Corn Removal, Prevention

This is entirely unrelated to the field corns. Corns found on our skin are the buildup of dry and dead skin cells that are usually caused by constant irritation and grinding between your skin and other objects. Corns are usually common at the sides of your feet, in the soles, hands and even in your elbows.

Corns are usually characterized by a transparent, yellowish-white skin that has no sensation when touched. Chipping small parts of the skin will not even be painful. There is no blood supply in these, and they do not have nerve endings as well.

These are caused mostly by external factors and it may also be caused by an underlying skin condition you might be having. Corns usually start as a blister. These are due to the contact between your skin and your shoes. As the blister gets healed, it would usually have the tendency to be irritated all over again as you get wear your shoes again. This would result to the buildup of the dead skin tissue.

Homemade Treatment Of Corns

There are many natural homemade remedies for corn removal that you can use to remove these corns.

Here are the following homemade remedies:

  • When taking a bath, use a pumice stone to rub on the affected area. It will usually scrub off the dead skin cells, leaving you with a smooth skin.
  • Place or rub a slice of lemon to your corns and allow it to sit for quite some time. You will notice that it will start to get soft and you can start rubbing it with pumice stone until you get a smooth layer of skin.
  • Fill a basin with lukewarm water, enough to cover your feet. Place a mixture of salt and soap suds. Immerse your feet in the solution as you give your feet a slow massage. The soap suds will soften your feet making it easier to remove the corns.
  • Mix 3 tablespoon full of honey and sugar. Rub these on your feet before taking a bath or even after taking a bath. The sugar will help exfoliate your skin and helps with the removal of corns.

How To Prevent Corns?

  • Choose the right size and perfect shoe for you. Find the right pair of shoes that fits you perfectly and something that you can feel comfortable wearing.
  • Drink plenty of fluids.
  • Avoid using alcohol on your feet as it causes your skin to dry easily.
  • Eat healthy and nutritious diet.
  • Observe proper hygiene.
  • Try to massage your feet once in a while to facilitate circulation.

    Corn and calluses are painful thickening of the skin, in the areas of friction and pressure.
    The medical term for the thickened skin is Hyperkeratosis. Corns occur on the part of the feet, and some times on the finger.
    Finger corns can develop from using tools, musical instruments, or other instruments which exert pressure at that site.
    Do you use such an instrument or a tool which continuously presses against the affected site, if so avoid it?
