Most women, especially working women pay least attention to their basic food requirements. This leads to a lot of deficiencies including malnourishment, bulimia and anorexia. Young working women from urban environment complain of anemia. It also leads to abdominal bloating, period cramps, irritability and heavy bleeding. All this affects the body and physical appearance. To make matters worse women also adopt dieting fads.

It is the key to good health and beauty. Modern day eating habit, fast food and convenient cooking robs valuable nutrients like Vitamin B Complex which is found in fish, milk, wheat germ and liver.
Nutrients for Skin Care:
- Skin: Skin needs Vitamin B12. It is found in milk, fresh vegetables and whole wheat bread. Skin also needs Vitamin C to purify the bloodstream and vitalize it. So you need to eat at least one orange a day.
- Teeth and Bones: To build healthy and strong teeth and bones our body needs Calcium and Vitamin D. They are found in milk and fish. So consume them in plenty. Avoid excess sugar and starch.
- Hair: Hair is made up of a protein called Keratin. You need plenty of protein and Vitamin B to have healthy hair. Eggs, fish and cheese are rich in protein and should be included in the diet.
- Nails: To have healthy nails you should include diet rich in proteins, minerals and iodine. This will prevent discoloring, cracking and chipping of nails.
- Eyes: Vitamin A is very essential to have a healthy pair of eyes. Eggs, fish, butter, cabbage, carrots and leafy vegetables are rich sources of Vitamin A.
Our eating habits have deteriorated over time. Today’s food diet includes food that should be used as snacks. To make things worse fruits, vegetables and grains that we consume contain pesticides and are adulterated. This robs the essential natural nutrients. Fruits, vegetables and grain are best when grown in a natural process without any artificial ingredients.
Modern, stressful lifestyle is a major factor that is depriving us of natural essential nutrients. Eating processed food is the primary cause of poor nutrition. People fail to realize the harmful side effects of processed food. They have less time for shopping and even less time for cooking. Lack of interest and ignorance about the basic nutritional values is another cause.
One of the bad habits that is fast picking is convenience foods. These are semi-processed and require only water to be added to the preparations. So, essential minerals are robbed from the food. So educate yourself about the nutritive values of common day to day food.
Ignore myths about food, nutrients and diet. Some believe that by increasing the daily dose of vitamins you can become healthy and beautiful. To compensate they take pills on a regular basis. Pills should be taken only if you are short on that particular vitamin and need to supplement. Remember excess is worse than deficiency.
