What Is Cervicitis?

Cervicitis is the inflammation of the uterine cervix or the lower area between the uterus and the vaginal canal. The common causes of cervicitis include the following:

  • Sexually transmitted infections such as gonorrhea, Chlamydia and trichomoniasis.
  • Injury
  • Chemical reaction
  • Latex allergy out of contraceptive use
  • Insertion of foreign and unsanitized objects into the vaginal canal
  • Sperm allergy
  • Unsafe sexual practices
  • Risky sexual behavior such as having multiple sexual partners

Symptoms Of Cervicitis

  • Abnormal vaginal discharge that has foul odor
  • Grayish, whitish, or yellowish discharge
  • Abnormal vaginal bleeding
  • Pelvic, abdominal, and vaginal pain
  • Burning sensation when urinating
  • Vaginal pain during sexual intercourse
  • Swollen cervix

Home Remedies For Cervicitis

Cervicitis natural treatment include the following:

  • Get half a liter of boiled water then add three teaspoons of marigold into it.
    Use the mixture to wash your vagina for two to three weeks.
  • Another effective treatment is the use of chamomile. Add two teaspoons of chamomile into a cup of hot water. Drink three cups of the said mixture every day until the symptoms abate.
  • Add three teaspoons of chamomile to boiling water, let it cool down then use the mixture for bathing.
  • You can prevent getting an inflamed cervix by practicing safe sex. Avoid inserting foreign objects in your vagina especially if they are not properly sanitized. It would also pay if you would check the possible causes of the inflammation such as condom or tampon allergic reactions.
