Throat Burn: Treat the Burning Sensation in Throat
Throat burn is an annoying condition that is brought about when the throat becomes sore or when there is an ailment such as colds that causes it. In most instances, some cases of throat burn last only as long as the factor causing it persists.
Throat Burn Causes
The following are the most common causes for developing throat burn:
- As a result of ailments, especially colds. This is due to the viral infection that brought about the colds in the first place.
As a product of some vices, especially smoking. When a person smokes, the throat is frequently exposed to smoke that has a high concentration of nicotine and other agents. This causes burning sensation in throat and the throat becomes dry, resulting to the characteristic sore feeling of a throat burn. - Due to accidentally drinking hot foods or liquids that causes scalding of the throat lining. Although this condition may cause a very intense pain at the onset, it can be easily treated by drinking cold liquid to follow up the matter that caused the scalding.
Treatments for Throat Burn
Getting rid of throat burn is a very important step to do in order to take away the annoying feeling in the throat that may get in the way of one’s swallowing of foods. However, one should emphasize natural treatment over medication as the former will not cause any harmful effects on the body.
The following are the common ways to treat throat burns:
- Create syrup by mixing honey and crushed holy basil leaves. After preparing the syrup, store it in a refrigerator to allow the elements to properly mix. When having a throat burn, drink a teaspoon of the mixture for about 6 times a day for a week. After some progress has been made, one may lower the dose to only three teaspoons a day as maintenance for restoring the throat to its health.
- Drink a glass of hot milk every night mixed with turmeric powder. The milk will help soothe the throat while the turmeric powder is a proven natural healer.
- Make a gargling liquid by boiling tamarind fruit in water. This is one of the proven ways to heal throat burn.
