Strep Throat Cure:
If a Streptococci bacterium is the causative organism for sore throat then the term strep throat is used. Symptoms associated with strep throat are chills, fever, headache, loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting, body pain with obstruction of nostrils and nasal discharge.
There is swelling in the throat and glands (lymph) surrounding the throat are inflamed.
Lack of immunity or decreased immunity is usually the cause of strep throat.
Preventing Strep Throat:
- Hot salt water gargle will help to increase the blood supply in the throat and thus help early recovery.
- Drink plenty of liquids. Fresh juices are helpful. Avoid sugary, processed and junk foods. Avoid tobacco in any form.
Home Remedies for Strep Throat:
- Mango bark is excellent in treating sore throat due to streptococcal infection. Mango bark is grinded and fluid is extracted from it. This is used as an external application. This juice extracted (10ml) can be mixed with 125ml of water and is used as gargle.
- Cinnamon is very valuable is treatment of strep throat. One teaspoon of coarsely grounded cinnamon powder is added to a glass of boiling water. A pinch of pepper is added to it. Let it cool and add honey to it. This should be taken 2-3 times in a day depending upon the severity of the person. Two to three drops of cinnamon drops are mixed with a teaspoon of honey. This too gives good relief in case of sore throat.
- Bishop’s weed is also valuable remedy for strep throat. An infusion of the seeds is mixed with common salt and is used beneficially as a gargle in acute condition.
- Licorice is useful in curing sore throat due to streptococcal infection. Handfuls of sage leaves are added to a liter of boiling water. When it is moderately cool, a little vinegar and honey is added for taste. A teaspoon of it should be taken 3-4 times in a day.
