Answer:

14 Weeks Pregnancy Symptoms

It is a normal condition to feel nauseated and occasional vomit during the initial months of pregnancy. This condition is referred to as ‘morning sickness’ or ‘emesis gravida’.

Here are some of the causes of vomiting during the first trimester, which have not been verified by research but are considered to contribute to the symptoms,

  1. During pregnancy, the levels of the hormone ‘estrogen’ increases in the body considerably. This is considered the main cause of morning sickness. However there is little evidence about this association, clinically.
  2. During pregnancy, the blood sugar levels tend to drop considerably, as the growing fetus and placenta drain out most of the sugar. This is also considered to be another possible cause
  3. Progesterone levels in the blood increase, to allow relaxation of the muscles of the uterus, to prevent premature delivery. However this hormone may have an effect on the alimentary canal as well resulting in excessive secretion of gastric acids and esophageal reflux
  4. Further, there is increase in the human chorionic gondatropin hormone which in turn stimulates emesis (i.e. vomiting).

Excessive vomiting however is due to pathological problems and need to be managed immediately.

Visit your gynecologist to ascertain the severity of the problem.
