Stretch marks are a form of skin scarring. It is characterized by an off-color hue that is a result of slight tear on the outer layer of the skin. Although these painful stretch marks can disappear over time, it can be bothersome to look at them. Stretch marks occur when the skin is stretched hastily. The development of stretch marks pain is the result of the separation of the collagen from the skin due to tearing.
Some treatments include topical ointments and creams that can be applied as soon as the baby is delivered. Some of these stretch mark treatment creams should not be used by breastfeeding mothers because it has been observed to have a negative impact on the milk supply of the baby. There are however natural treatments that include aloe vera, grapefruit seed extract, and vitamin E. More advanced treatments would include laser, plastic surgery, or a tummy tuck to conceal the evident stretch mark pains.
