Dizzy Spells During Pregnancy
Pregnancy throws your whole body off kilter for nine months. Feet and legs may be swollen, your back hurts from all the extra weight, and you wonder if you will ever get back to normal. Rest assured, you will!
What Causes Dizzy Spells During Pregnancy?
- All the blood gathering in your lower parts, at the feet and legs, is yet another side effect of your condition. This is one of the causes of dizzy spells during pregnancy.
- Not enough blood and oxygen is making its way to your cerebral area and you may feel like you are going to pass out. This too will pass. Knowing what to do will help ease your anxiety.
Dizzy Spells In Pregnancy Treatment
- If you start to feel a little lightheaded, sit down in a safe area. Elevate your feet to help circulate more blood and fresh air to the brain.
- If your head is spinning, focus on a certain object for a period of time until the feeling subsides.
- Don’t rise up from a lying or seated position too quickly. This can cause an abrupt drop in blood pressure and accelerate your situation.
- When you are standing, try tightening up your leg and butt muscles to force more blood upward where you need it.
- Although warm baths can be very soothing after a long day when you pregnant, don’t get up and out of the hot water quickly. You may become faint. Slow, but sure, is the key.
- Make sure you treat yourself to good protein snacks frequently throughout the day to keep your strength up and assure that your blood sugar levels stay within normal range.
- Have a few natural peanut butter crackers and a glass of milk. You could also indulge in your favorite yogurt or piece of fresh fruit.
