Eighth Month of Pregnancy – Role and Duties of Expectant Father

Week 31-34 Tips for Expectant Father:

As the birth draws nearer your insecurities increase. Your unfamiliarity with these feelings makes it more disturbing. Value your strengths, and accept your weaknesses. In this manner you will be able to conquer your anxieties. Remember that learning is also a part of experience.

Measuring Up -

If you admire your father then you will be aspire to be like him. But if you don’t have any fond memories then you will want to like anybody else expect your father.

Literally anybody who is a perfect father according to you can be your role model. It can be a relative, friend, colleague or neighbor. You have developed certain ideas and would like to be the world’s best dad. Don’t try to copy a fantasy figure they are nice only on screen and you wouldn’t want to be like them in real life.

Starting with the basics is very important. Make an oath that you will listen to your child.

Through your actions you will teach him values and morals, love him, and are there when he needs you. That is what a father is known for.

Note – Selecting the baby’s name is a very difficult task. If you are adamant on one name and she on the other then consider combinations of the two. If you are still not coming to a decision then start from scratch and come up with something new that both of you will like.

Consider your family tree, religious beliefs, heritage, heroes and heroines, favorite people and everything important in life. Consider everything before coming to a conclusion. This will save your child from embarrassment and grief later.

Diaper Duty and Other Special Skills:

If you are completely unaware of baby care, you can join baby class at your local hospital. Initially you will feel silly playing with the dolls, but when you see other grown up men doing the same you will be at ease. If you are unable to attend a class, and you don’t have any babies of family or friends, do not panic. You will learn all the baby care once the baby arrives home.

You can change the baby diaper during her stay in the hospital. Watchful nurses will help you with the needful. This is a nice and safe environment to learn things and test your abilities. The baby will be only sponged until she returns home and her cord has fallen off. Do not bathe the baby until you are totally confident. Observe when others are giving the baby a bath and proceed with things only when you are totally confident.
