The tongue is essential for us to survive and socialize; any problems with this body part should be properly addressed. Here are some causes of tongue injury:

  • Deficiency in vitamin B-complex
  • Improper oral hygiene
  • Excessive alcohol consumption
  • Inappropriate fitting dentures
  • Accidental biting of the tongue

Tongue Injury Remedy

The remedies for tongue injury are simple and easy to follow.

These safe treatments can even be done at home:

  • Take foods high in vitamin B complex.
  • Rinse with antiseptic gargles to decrease risk for microorganism infection.
  • If you feel any discomfort when eating, put ice cubes on tongue or gargle cold water to numb it before meals. Do this for ten minutes or more until you can already feel numbness.
  • You can also eat bland foods to avoid feeling pain.
  • Take foods with vitamin E, vitamin C, vitamin A, zinc, and protein-rich foods. They help in making the wound healing process faster.
  • Table sugar can impede the healing process.
    Use honey as a substitute.
  • Drinking warm milk mixed with a teaspoon of turmeric acid. They have antiseptic properties.
  • Eat plain yogurt or buttermilk to aid healing.
  • Make a decoction of Goldenseal root and consume as gargle 2-3 times a day.
  • Mix a teaspoon salt to a glass of warm water and gargle.
  • Apply a mixture of olive, aloe vera, and lemon juice to the affected area.
  • Avoid taking caffeine, chocolates, spicy and hot foods, and smoking.
