- Brushing your teeth regularly or at least three times a day helps.
- Gargling the affected side with salt and warm water can also help.
- Placing a hot compress in the cheek area of the affected side can relieve the swelling and pain.
- Using a teabag. Place this in a warm water and let it sit for a while. Once the teabag has warmed enough, place it in the gum line and within the affected tooth to relieve pain and swelling. The herbs in the teabag also have an anti-inflammatory effect.
- Drinking pain relievers and anti-inflammatory medications can help relieve and lessen the inflammatory process.
Preventing Toothache:
- Observing proper dental care at all times is the best way to prevent tooth ache and tooth decay.
- Brushing teeth, flossing, and gargling every after meal can help prevent tooth damage and cavities.
- Avoid eating too much sweets as this can trigger the development of tooth decay and cavities.
- Have a regular dental checkup with your dental hygienist. An appointment once every 3 months would be ideal.
- Eat plenty of healthy and nutritious food. Food rich in calcium should be given importance as well.
- Avoid smoking and drinking alcohol consumption. Smoking can cause thinning of the enamel of the teeth, making it prone to dental cavities.
