Tooth Pain after Extraction Remedies | Reduce Extracted Tooth Pain

Question: I had my last molar extracted. Now every time I eat or drink, whole jaw hurts from the ear to the front of jaw. How long will this pain continue?

Tooth pain after extraction is common and normal. Painkillers prescribed by your dentist can control it. In order to prevent nausea take the pills with at least 250 ml of water and a small amount of soft food.  Pain, swelling and stiffness following tooth extraction last for only a few days after the procedure and may take up to a maximum of one to two weeks to heal tooth ache completely.

On extraction of tooth, bleeding occurs from the alveolar bone and the surrounding gum tissue. This bleeding clots and thereby prevents food, derbies and other irritants from entering the extraction site and protects the site from bacterial infection. The clot also facilitates the development of granulation tissue that is crucial for the process of tooth pain healing to occur.
