What is Dry Socket?
One of the dry socket symptoms is usually pain and it is usually common to those individuals who had a wisdom teeth removal procedure. It is a usual and common complication when you have your tooth extracted.
Pain from a dry socket is due to the loss of the blood clot. This exposes the bone to air, food, and fluids. This often occurs two or more days after an extraction and it can further last about five to six days. It is normal to have soreness and discomfort following an extraction.
This condition exists when blood clot is removed from the area thus exposing the fine nerve endings and the bone. The blood clot helps stop the bleeding and serves as the framework or foundation for new tissues and bones to develop. This condition is more common in the lower jawbone and in the back part of the teeth especially the wisdom teeth.
