Question: I was having dry mouth and bad taste in the mouth since 1st May. I visited one ENT Specialist and he said saliva glands were closed. He told me to drop lemon on the tongue. I did it and got relief for few days, and now it’s started again.
I was scared it’s the symptoms of HIV as I had a protected sex with girl. I have done the HIV test three times from 11day, 31st day and 40th of that contact. All came out negative.
Also I have done SGOT and SGPT.
HIV Symptoms and How it Spreads
Relax. First up if you had “protected sex” (using condom) there is little for you to worry. HIV spreads only through four routes i.e. unprotected sex, needle prick injury (of a HIV positive person), from a mother to a child, or through blood transfusion.
Also if you want to be sure, you can undertake an Elisa Test (HIV Test) after 90 days from the day you suspect of getting infected, because HIV infection is not immediately detected in blood and takes 90 days to be detected.
Drying mouth and bad taste in the mouth may be associated with jaundice. However your SGOT and SGPT levels as mentioned by you are in Normal range. Watch out for yellowness in your skin and sclera over the next week. In the meantime continue to do as suggested by your ENT specialist.
