Pain if present is stabbing in nature. In severe cases, there may be numbness, loss of sensation and paralysis of the near by muscle which that nerve supplies.
Most common condition is the paralysis of the face muscles or trigeminal neuralgia due to affection of the trigeminal nerve. During the acute condition of nerve pain the person may not be able to close his eyes due to loss of normal tone and strength of the muscles on the affected side of the face.

Chief cause of neuritis is the presence of toxins in the blood and other body fluids. This could be result of a faculty diet, wrong habit of living, overwork, nutritional deficiencies and metabolic disturbance.

I am currently experiencing bad nerve pain following mastectomy and total lymph node clearance on 8th May. This manifests itself as tight vice like gripping sensation with burning, pins & needles and almost like someone is pulling a cheese grater across my chest in the scar area and under my arm. I have started 8 sessions of FEC chemo on 19th June and had 2nd session on 10th July – this seems to exacerbate the pain and leaves me feeling low and exhausted. I feel I have enough to contend with the chemo without this pain as well. I would be grateful for any help or tips you can give me to alleviate this pain as would prefer not to go down the route of even more drugs such as amytriptilline which has been suggested by oncology team. Do you have any thoughts re the Re-Builder system advertised on the net – although expensive I would consider buying it if it works? Also my oncology team say I cannot take vitamins or supplements for the duration of my chemo. I would be grateful for any information and look forward to hearing from you.
