Rough elevations occur on the fingers, scalp, face, elbows and knees. They are painless, raised lesions with a dry rough surface and flourish in moist areas of the body.
Causes of Warts
- Warts are mainly caused by virus infection and they are contagious.
- Viruses penetrate the skin through abrasions.
- Infection may spread among family members.
- Constitutional factors are the root cause of the trouble.
- Treat warts on the first instance of appearance.
- Patient should be kept on all-fruit diet for 2 days. Gradually start well-balanced diet. Avoid refined, frozen and tinned foods, flesh foods, tea, coffee, spices, white flour and sugar.
- Castor oil is of utmost importance in the treatment of warts. Apply it generously over the affected areas every night for several months.
- Raw potatoes should be cut and applied over affected areas for at least 2 weeks.
- Figs play an important role in the treatment of warts. Milky juice extracted from the figs should be applied on the warts several times a day.
- Warts disappear when they are rubbed with cut onions.
- Milk from the herb dandelion or juice from the leaves of marigold can also be applied to the affected areas 2-3 times daily.
- Oil extracted from the shell of cashew nut also has proved useful. It should be applied externally.
- Juice of pineapple and papaya fruits has also given good results.
