Vinegar for Toenail Fungus Treatment:
Toenail fungus is an infection of the nails that may also affect the fingernails and can infect one or more of the nails. The infection starts with a white or yellowish spot beneath the tip of the toenail or fingernail. It can be painful and may sometimes emit foul odor.
The appearance of the nails eventually changes as the fungus extends deeper into the nails and shows the following:
- Brittleness or crumbliness
- Dark color brought about by debris forming under the nails
- Distorted shape
- Dullness and lack of luster
- Thickened nails
- Separation of nails from nail bed
Causes of Toe Nail Fungus
- When the nails are continuously exposed to warm and moist environment, there is a great probability that some fungi will begin to dwell in the area.Fungus is known to inhabit wet locations and this includes sweaty shoes and damp socks. Shower floors or swimming pools can also be a venue for these microscopic organisms. They do not need sunlight in order to survive.
- Nail fungus should not be mistaken with the one causing athlete’s foot that basically targets the skin of the feet.
- But there are instances where the same fungus causes both infections.
- Toenail fungal infection is not easy to treat, and even if it does get treated, chances of recurrence are very high.
- There have been lots of medications that are available over the counter, but there are also experimental home treatments that have been proven to help in clearing nail fungus.
The Complications
Toenail fungus can be painful if it remains unattended. It can also lead to permanent damage of the nails. And the worse scenario would be for the infection to get serious, spreading beyond the feet, especially when there are other conditions such as diabetes or a poor immune system.
Treating Toe Nail Fungal Infection Using Vinegar
