While showering, washing hair or swimming, water containing infectious microorganisms may get trapped in the outer ear canal and breed leading to swimmers ear.
Home remedies for Swimmers Ears
- Never scratch inside the ear with an object, as your eardrum may get ruptured.
- Don’t go swimming, and whenever you are washing your hair use a shower cap.
- Use vinegar diluted with water to kill bacteria and to dry out ear canal.
- Drop 1-2 drops of the solution into the ear with a dropper and leave it for 2-3 minutes, then tilt to drain out the content. Repeat this 3 times a day.
How you can prevent Swimmers Ears?
- To remove water trapped in your ear after swimming, shake your head.
- Use the corner of a towel to gently dry the external ear.
- If you have been swimming in a lake and are prone to infection use antiseptic eardrops.
