Stroke is described as sudden acute disturbance of brain function of vascular origin. It may occur at any age and cause loss of consciousness, paralysis and death.
Signs and Symptoms of Stroke
- Dizziness followed by nausea and vomiting, followed by weakness of the body is one of the main symptoms of a stroke
- Severe headache, convulsion, coma, paralysis on one side, inability to speak and recall words are the other symptoms.
- Deep coma, stiffness in neck and high fever occur in severe cases and sometimes lead to permanent disability.
Causes of Heart or Brain Stroke
When any one of the vessels leading to a portion of the brain becomes blocked by a blood clot a stroke occurs.
Treatment of Stroke and Stroke Remedies
- The patient should take adequate rest and keep away from work and excitement. Apply cold compresses to the head to relieve pain.
- The patient should be given only water for first few days, later followed by orange juice and water; and then fruit and fresh milk diet; gradually stick onto a well-balanced diet. Warm water enema should be given twice daily.
- Paralyzed muscles should be gently massaged. Move all joints several times daily and the patient should walk.
- Breathing and other exercises should be practiced once the patient is able to move around.
- Daily friction and sponge and prolonged neutral immersion bath are also beneficial.
- Excessive strain, needless worry and undue nervous excitement should be avoided.
- Avoid fried foods, frozen foods, spices, flesh foods, tea, coffee, white flour and sugar, alcohol and smoking.
