Skin irritation is not uncommon among people. In fact, a lot of people complain about experiencing the annoyance of having the ailment.
Skin irritation is just one way by which the skin reacts when it is exposed to allergens and other irritants that have the potential to harm the skin. As such, rashes and blisters commonly show up as an indicator that the current environment is not suitable for our skin.

- Plants. Certain plants are another source of irritation especially when these have spines or hairs that contain the irritating substance.
- Low humidity environment. In situations where there is extreme heat and there is nothing to alleviate the situation, individuals may develop skin irritation. This is because a low humidity environment means that there is the absence or lack of water vapor that can help in moisturizing the skin.

Home Remedies and Treatment for Skin Irritation
Protection from skin irritation is of prime importance for those who continue to suffer from the ailment. The following are some easy steps that you can do at home to protect yourself and to cure skin irritation:
- Application of zinc oxide creams that help protect the skin by maintaining moisture.
- In cases of severe itching, some antihistamine tablets are available in most drugstores. However, when only mild irritation is experienced, creams that contain hydrocortisone as an active ingredient will be enough.
- If a person gets in contact with a known skin irritant, the best way to avoid rashes from developing is to wash the affected area with soap and water. This way, most of the offensive particles will be washed away.
- In order to prevent worsening the situation, avoid scratching the affected area as this may cause infection.

Putting oils on your face when you are dealing with itchy skin is not a good idea! Putting cold yogurt on your face will help but it won’t make the itching go away for good. You should try changing the way you cleanse and take your of your skin first before trying home remedies. Use a face cleanser that is for sensitive skin, hypoallergenic, and has some calming/soothing ingredient such as aloe or chamomile or lavender. Try Seaweed face wash from the Body Shop. It really helped my redness go away and it’s a gentle face wash, it also removes all makeup and oils. When you wash your face, use a cotton cloth and gently rub, add a bit more water. Make sure you wash with lukewarm water. Then rinse your face with cold water.
Now you can try a home remedy. Apply yogurt or slice of cucumbers on the itching parts.
If you apply make up on your skin, avoid foundation. MAke sure you apply an SPF moisturizer(I use Seaweed SPF 15 from Body Shop). They have a really good moisturizer that soothes your skin….its oil free and it really cools your skin!

I have suffered from skin irritation for 10 years. The skin irritation rash that I have on my face is really unbearable. Does dry and itchy skin have to suffer from skin irritation? I also have some skin bumps. What could help me get a healthy skin?
Dry skin itches more, when there is lack of moisture available to skin tissue, the skin becomes dry and some time parch, giving rise to itching.
Applying vitamin E oil or yogurt will make the skin smooth and supple. Drinking more water will help to hydrate and nourish the skin.
