  2. Cigarette smoking can also create sinus pain. If you have mild sinusitis and you smoke it will progress in spite of treatment to a more severe condition.
  3. Avoid alcohol because drinking causes blood vessels to swell, resulting in less drainage, more pain and greater risk of infection.

Pressure and heaviness in the head and ears could be due to sinusitis.
I could help you better, it you detailed your symptoms.
Do you suffer from headaches? Runny nose? Sneezing? Cough? Complaints since when? Are there recurrences?
Do travel by air a lot? Do the ears feel plugged?

    Management:
    1. Vitamin C is the best remedy to fight sinusitis. It gives the immune system a boost and prevents recurrences. Drink the juice of 1 lime every morning, on rising.
    2. Roast about 3-4 tablespoons of caraway seeds. Crush them slightly and inhale the vapors. This will bring instant relief to the heaviness of the head, and clear a blocked nose.
    3. In case, of an episode, consume 2 raw flakes of garlic. Garlic helps to break up the mucus congestion. Also, add lots of garlic to your meals.
    4. Kali bichromium, a homoeopathic medicine cures sinusitis.
    5. Identify the foods that bring on the trouble and steadily avoid them.

It would also be necessary to rule out anemia. (Get your haemoglobin level assessed).

Since your blood sugar levels and blood cholesterol levels have been on the higher side, you have diabetes and hypercholesterolemia. Get your blood pressure assessed.

    Management:

I’m sending you the basic dietary dos and don’ts that you ought to bear in mind:

    • Cut down on simple sugars – white sugar, jaggery, and honey. Avoid artificial sweeteners too, they are not recommended. You could make it a gradual process.
    • Stay away from saturated fats – margarine, butter, and ghee. They are rich in cholesterol, and so not good for you.
    • Refined and processed foods are a complete no – no. they are loaded with trans fats which will aggravate your condition.
    • Do not consume any animal fats. Red meat is detrimental to your health. Lean meat and fish can be had once a week.
    • Cut down on the consumption of oil.
    • Let fruits and vegetables be the mainstay of your diet.

Embarking on some form of exercise, on a regular basis is advised.

Headaches are of many types, some being functional and some being organic in nature. Headache due to sinusitis is among one of the cause. The others are migraine headache, tension headache, cluster headaches, headache due to acute glaucoma
Sinuses are hollow cavities in the head around the eyes and in paranasal region.
They are lined with mucus membrane. Any inflammation or infection such as cold, hay fever causes increased secretion of mucus in the sinus cavities leading to sinusitis.
Preventive measures like treating cold promptly.
Stop smoking, as smokers get sinusitis often.
Apart from homeopathic medicine you can take steam inhalation, gargling with warm water to prevent sore throat. Elevate your head at night. Drink more fluids to keep mucus thin.
Food rich in vitamin A and C should be consumed in plenty like carrots, lime , oranges.
